Postcard Advertising & Postcard Marketing

So what’s the difference between postcard marketing and postcard advertising? To me it’s quite fairly simple in that postcard marketing entails a campaign where you alone are marketing to a list of customers or subscribers or even a metered purchased list.

With postcard advertising it can be a joint venture where you are putting a small image ad or a small text ad as a ride along space with someone else who is doing a postcard marketing campaign. This would be where you joint venture with someone kind of like a Val-Pak only with postcards to deliver the message instead.

Obviously, this type of postcard advertising with you getting a small space as a ride along will be much cheaper for you.

But there’s always a trade off and because it’s much cheaper it’s also going to be less visible and can possibly generate a lower response than having your own standalone postcard going out.

Don’t believe when anyone tells you that postcard marketing is dead because it is alive and well and kicking. Sending a postcard to a targeted list of your customers, subscribers or even to a highly targeted list that you brought from a list provider can generate tremendous ROI. Direct mail still works you just have to factor in the cost of printing and mailing.

Obviously, there are certain products that work using direct mail marketing and other products that don’t. And even in the subset of direct mail marketing is a specific grouping that will respond better to postcards than they will to letters and packages.

I think mailing postcards to your customers and subscribers is an absolute must to keep your face and your business brand in front of the people who subscribe to you and have bought from you in the past. I recommend you do some postcard advertising on somebody else’s postcards to introduce yourself to their subscribers and customers as well as doing your own postcard marketing to your own customers and subscriber database.
